Perhaps the Royal Cliff Beach had the largest number of guest – well over 800. In residence were the Young Presidents Organization, which was holding a seminar in the hotel’s more-than-adequate conference facilities. Scores of young men and women were on the beach, sailing, parasailing, boating and generally enjoying themselves in the surf.
Stayed at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel and was given one of my favourite rooms on the fourth floor of the Cliff Wing. Alois Fassbind, the General Manager, must surely be the best public relations man that Pattaya has ever had. In November he has groups coming in from South Africa and Rhodesia, and has even arranged for a South African newspaper to print a special supplement on Pattaya. Possibly the Royal Cliff Beach is the ultimate in resort hotels as it has almost everything for a perfect holiday – its own beach, boats, parasailing, swimming pools, wind gliders, bowling alley, large scale conference facilities and a full scale massage parlour, not mention all the other things normally found in a first class hotel.
It also has the Royal Cliff Clinic which I had the necessity to visit as I slipped into a storm drain injuring my leg. Later it became difficult to walk and as I was hobbling up the ramp with the intention of visiting a doctor in Pattaya, I met Bruno Forier, the Resident Manager, who immediately sent for the resident nurse. Treatment was fast and effective and in a couple if hours I was able at least to get around. The next day was attended to by Dr. Michaels, who among other things is a lecturer at Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok. I can certainly recommend the Royal Cliff Clinic along with the Pattaya International Clinic, as the places to visit if one is taken ill while.

The Royal Cliff Beach Hotel will celebrate its official opening in October this year, according to Mr. Fassbind, the general manager.
By that time the hotel will have already opened the remaining rooms to bring the total room count to well over 600. Mr. Fassbind also expects to have the conference hall with a capacity for 1,200 ready for conventions in early September. Already marketing director, Freddie Bussel, is selling the facilities and the hotel has planned for a number of region and local conference as of September.
Following the official opening in October the hotel will hike up its FIT rates to 560 baht a night for the main block, while for the tour rates and volume rates will remain the same, the hotelier reported.
Mr. Fassbind admitted that at present business is slow at the resort with the occupancy rate taking a steep dip. However, he said that advanced booking and contracts show that from October the occupancy will climb up to the 80 percent mark.
Prior to visiting South Africa for a holiday and sales trip the holier said that his hotel is looking to ASEAN countries and especially Malaysia and Singapore as a source of convention and tourist business.
The planned joint promotion to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore is an excellent idea simply because we will see the results in a short period of time” Mr. Fassbind explained.
