The first large size conference to meet at Pattaya is scheduled for the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel in November, according to general manager, Alois Fassbind.
Representing the worldwide offices of a well known oil company 1200 delegates are expected to attend the four day meet. The Royal Cliff Beach Hotel is the hotel in Pataya that can accommodate the jumbo … conferences and the sales team of the hotel is hoping to cash in on this unique selling point to help boost the occupancy rate of the hotel during the off season months.
“This is the first conference of any size to be scheduled for Pattaya, and despite the fact that it is the middle of the high season, which will mean we may have to transfer some of our tour group business to other hotels for that week, we cannot let the opportunity go by,” said a hotel spokesman.
The hotel is banking on conference business and the signs indicate that Pattaya will offer stiff competition to the Bangkok hotels as a conference venue.
The Asia Hotel, which stands in the next bay to the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, has conference facilities for up to 400 delegates.

There was a trip to the Coral Islands followed by cocktail reception for a group of 27 people from the Sales Department of THAI International in Hong Kong given by the management of the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, Pattaya, last Sunday. Swinging along during the cocktail hours are Mr. Ferror Bruno, Resident Manager of the Cliff, Mr. David Cheung, Sales Representative of THAI Internation, Hong Kong, Mr. Fredi Bussell, Marketing Director of the Cliff and Mr. Hui Wai Hing, Sales Manager of THAI in Hong Kong.

Seen arriving at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, Pattaya over the weekend are His Highness Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan and his wife, Princess Aga Khan of Pakistan.
They were honoured guests of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Chartichai Choonhavan and Khunying Boonruen Choonhavan.
Also at the party were the Swiss Ambassador and his wife, the German Ambassador and his wife. Here the Prince and Princess (centre) are seen being formally welcomed by Mr.Alois Fassbind (in stripe coat), General Manager of Royal Cliff, at the main entrance.

Visiting Thailand at present are His Highness Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan of Iran, the High Commissioner for Refugees of the United Nations in Geneva and his wife the Princess Aga Khan. Arriving on Friday, the royal couple travelled directly to Pattaya where they stay at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel over the weekend. Prince and Princess Aga Khan were entertained at a dinner party hosted by Foreign Minister Maj-Gen Chartichai Choonhawan and Khunying Boonruen at the Royal Cliff Saturday night. Other guest included Swiss Ambassador and Mrs. Rudolf Hartmann, German Ambassador Dr. and Mrs. Edgar von Schmidt-Pauli, Deputy Under-Secretary of the Interior Dr. Winyu Angkanarak, and Gen Prakob Prayoonpokaraj, Deputy Interior Minister.
The Prince and Princess Aga Khan have been to Sattahip and Aranyapratet where they observed the refugee camps. The royal couple will be received in audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen at Taksin Rachnives in Narathiwat Province on Friday and they return to Geneva on Saturday.
