HRH Princess Chulabhorn Opens International Congress of Surgeons

HRH Princess Chulabhorn, the youngest daughter of Their Majesties the King and the Queen, declared open the 35th World Congress of the International College of Surgeons held at the multi award-winning Royal Cliff Beach Resort from 25 to 29 October.
The four-day world congress was organised under the theme “Surgical Challenges” at Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH), a world-class facility of the Resort.
The congress focussed on major advances and latest procedures in surgery and featured video presentations on new surgical techniques by well-known experts, free papers and poster presentations giving an excellent opportunity for the delegates to discuss and exchange opinions. Surgical specialists from all across the globe participated in the conference.

Royal Cliff Beach Resort is the first hotel in Asia to be elevated to the “Travel Hall of Fame”

The multi award-winning Royal Cliff Beach Resort became the first hotel in Asia to be elevated to the “Travel Hall of Fame” at the 17th Annual Travel Awards 2006 held at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel in Pattaya on 12 October.
Since the inception of the Awards 17 years ago, the Royal Cliff Beach Resort has won the Best Resort Hotel – Asia Pacific award for eight consecutive years from 1989 and the Best Meetings & Conventions Hotel award in 2002, 2004 and 2005 from the Travel Trade Gazette Asia (TTG Asia) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
The award is decided on the input of industry peers.

In recognition of this stellar achievement, the Resort was inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame, becoming the first representative from Thailand and the first Hotel in all of Asia to be admitted. So far, only three organisations in the world have achieved this elevation.
Mr. Michael Chow, Publisher of TTG Asia Weekly, presented a glittering Hermes Trophy to Mrs. Panga Vathanakul, Managing Director of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, at a colourful TTG Travel Awards Gala Dinner attended by 650 Travel Industry professionals in the Siam Ballroom, Royal Cliff Beach Hotel.

Since its opening in 1973, the Royal Cliff Beach Resort has won a number of notable awards, the most recent ones being the Award of Excellence as the Best Meetings & Conventions Hotel from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Award of Excellence 2006 from the Wine Spectator magazine (New York), the Star of Travel.Ru Award from Zvezda Travel of Russia, the EIA Monitoring Award 2005 from Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Green Planet Award 2005 from Kuoni Travel Group (Switzerland).

The Royal Cliff Wine Club, Thailand’s leading wine club, recently hosted another exciting event – Exclusive Tasting of Alsace Wines with Matching Thai Food – in the Grand Ballroom of the Royal Cliff Grand & Spa.
The Tasting Dinner offered a total of SIX wines to complement a fabulous seven course Thai set menu crafted by Thai Cuisine Specialist Khun Chalie Amatyakul and prepared by the Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s team of culinary experts.
The tasting was conducted by renowned wine connoisseur and lecturer, Mr. Thierry Fritsch of the Conseil Interprofessionnels des Vins d’Alsace (CIVA), France, and Thai Cuisine Specialist Khun Chalie.
Mr. Fritsch made a multimedia presentation of Alsace Wines and vineyards in the Alsace region of France. He also explained that most wines adorned with “Alsace” label perfectly match with spicy Thai and Asian cuisines.
Earlier, Mr. Ranjith Chandrasiri, President of the Royal Cliff Wine Club and Deputy General Manager of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, welcomed a large gathering of Wine Club members.
The event was sponsored by Sopexa Thailand Co., Ltd, Food & Beverage Marketing and Promotion Office of France, under the French Ministry of Agriculture, and CIVA.
