Pattaya, Thailand – Pattaya, Thailand – The Royal Cliff Beach Resort recently celebrated its world record achievement of the most prestigious Best of Award of Excellence 2007 for 3 of its restaurants from the Wine Spectator magazine of New York by hosting a Cocktail Reception in Siam Ballroom, Royal Cliff Beach Hotel. The restaurants which won the coveted awards are Grill Room & Wine Cellar (International grilled specialities), Rossini (Italian Cuisine) and Chrysanthemum Palace (Cantonese Cuisine). This achievement is a world record since it is the first time that three such awards have been won by one property in one calendar year anywhere in the world!

The Best of Award of Excellence is the magazine’s prestigious award, created to give special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of its basic Award of Excellence with their wine lists displaying vintage depth or excellent breadth across several wine regions.
Previously, the Grill Room & Wine Cellar received the basic Award of Excellence in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 and Rossini was the recipient in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Chrysanthemum Palace won the award for the first time in 2006.

Congratulating the management and staff of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort for setting the world record, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Paiboon Wattanasiritham said: “It is truly a remarkable achievement that not just one but three of the restaurants of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort have won this award.”
Addressing the august gathering at the cocktail reception, the Deputy Prime Minister observed: “It is a glowing tribute to the standards of Thailand’s hospitality and catering industry, which has placed the Kingdom in the culinary map of the world with its authentic cuisine and fabulous Thai wines”.
A fete achieved by no property in the world in a single year, it also serves as a fitting recognition of Pattaya, which has emerged into a world-class culinary destination from a small fishing village, Mr. Paiboon added.
Earlier in her welcome address, Mrs. Panga Vathanakul, Managing Director of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, said the 35-year history of the Resort has been studded with numerous awards and citations from distinguished organisations around the world, the most recent ones being the Green Planet Award 2007-08 from Kuoni Travel of Switzerland and the EIA Monitoring Award from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment besides the elevation of the Resort to the TTG Travel Hall of Fame in 2006.
“However, the Best of Award of Excellence 2007 inspires all of us to continue to strive to achieve the best in all that we do. Our profound thanks to our guests, regular diners, wine suppliers and last but not the least, media, for helping us in setting the world record,” Mrs. Panga said.

The Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s Gold medal-winning cocktail – Flaming Passion.
Pattaya, Thailand – Mr. Kittisak Thongsan, Bartender of Caprice Restaurant & Bar, Royal Wing & Spa, one of the four 5-star hotels of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, won the first prize at a Bartender Contest held in conjunction with the recently concluded Pattaya Food & Hoteliers Expo ’07.
Mr. Kittisak stole the show displaying his flaming skills and acrobatic bottle flips while making the Resort’s newest cocktail Flaming Passion, specially created for the occasion. The first prize consisted of a gold medal, trophy, citation and a cash reward. In all, 19 bartenders from various hotels in Pattaya participated in the contest.
Flaming Passion is a seamless blend of imported and local spirits as well as fresh fruit juices with an elegant touch of grenadine syrup. The prize-winning cocktail was launched on 1 Sept. as the “Cocktail of the Month” in restaurants and bars at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort.
In recognition of his remarkable achievement, Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s Managing Director Mrs. Panga Vathanakul presented a Certificate of Appreciation and a cash prize to Mr. Kittisak.

Australian Wine Ambassador Holds Training Camp for Royal Cliff Beach Resort Staff

Mr. George Samios, Wine Ambassador for Foster’s Wine Estates, one of Australia’s largest wine companies and the exporter of Wolf Blass Wines, recently held an extensive wine training camp for the Food & Beverage staff of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort.
The training encompassed several topics, including vineyards and wineries in Australia and the history of Wolf Blass Wines and its founder Mr. Wolf Blass, a German who had migrated to Australia in 1961 with 100 pounds in his pocket and eventually established Australia’s most successful wine company.
The event, which was co-sponsored by Canpac Beverages Ltd., culminated in a tasting of some famous wine labels of Wolf Blass.
Foster’s General Manager for Southeast Asia Mr. Jake Jacob, Canpac’s Managing Director Mr. Ekachai Mahaguna and Royal Cliff Beach Resort Deputy General Manager and Royal Cliff Wine Club President Mr. Ranjith Chandrasiri and the Resort’s Food & Beverages Director Mr. Paitoon Ritdej were among those present.

The Royal Cliff Wine Club, Asia’s leading wine club, hosted another exciting event – Wolf Blass Winemaker’s Gala Dinner – featuring a selection of fabulous wines from Wolf Blass Wines of Australia recently at the Grand Ballroom, Royal Cliff Grand & Spa.
The event showcased a total of six Wolf Blass wines and a seven-course gourmet menu masterfully crafted by the culinary experts of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort. The gala dinner was co-sponsored by Canpac Beverages Ltd.
Mr. George Samios, Wine Ambassador for Foster’s Wine Estates, one of Australia’s largest wine companies, and Mr. Jake Jacob, the company’s General Manager, were the Guest Speakers. The elegantly decorated Grand Ballroom welcomed more than 150 Wine Club members and guests.

The Royal Cliff Wine Club, Asia’s leading wine club, hosted another prestigious event - Australian Winemaker’s Gala Dinner - at the Grand Ballroom, Royal Cliff Grand & Spa, on Wednesday, 13 June 2007.
The event showcased a total of SIX Moondah Brook and Brookland Valley Estate wines made by Hardy Wine Company, the Australian arm of the world’s largest wine group – Constellation Wines.
The gala dinner, which featured a six-course gourmet menu masterfully crafted by the Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s culinary experts, was co-sponsored by Ambrose Wine Ltd.
The wines were presented by Hardy Wine Company Business Development Manager Mr. James Wilson. The elegantly decorated Grand Ballroom welcomed more than 200 Wine Club members and guests.
